Mr. Michael Lee

Michael Lee, AACI, MRICS was awarded his AACI designation in 1980 and the MRICS (Member Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) designation in 2004. He has a Bachelor of Administrative Studies, with a major in finance, from York University. Mr. Lee has 33 years experience in all aspects of the real estate field. During his career, he has worked in the real estate departments of a number of major Canadian life insurance companies, where he was responsible for the design and execution of an active asset management strategy on a Canada wide basis, for both debt and equity portfolios. Mr. Lee was jointly responsible for the purchase, sale, due diligence, development and asset management of their real estate portfolios. His duties also included overseeing the leasing and property management functions.

His appraisal career has primarily focused on commercial and industrial real estate including community malls, regional malls, food anchored strip centres, office buildings, apartment buildings and a variety of industrial projects. Within one year he completed appraisals on $1.7 billion of real estate, including the office and retail components of BCE Place, the Standard Life Centre in Toronto and the Holt Renfrew Centre. He has also completed numerous appraisals of vacant land in all stages of the development process. Additionally, he has extensive experience in expropriation work.

Mr. Lee currently serves on the Communications Committee for the Ontario Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada (OAAIC) and the National Investigating Committee of the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC). He is also a lecturer for the OAAIC education course “BUSI 400 – Residential Property Analysis” and for the new AIC “We Value Canada” seminar.
